about
Today I have for you another Catradora song – finally, I've released a Catradora song that isn't completely saturated with angst!!! This one is about them finally getting to enjoy relaxing post-war. It's based on an image I had of them visiting the horde again and climbing onto the roof together like when they were young, slow dancing in the sunset.
lyrics
A long time ago you promised me a dance
I shrugged it off when you held out your hand
But I saw your smile and I knew you meant it
Yet another promise and you kept it
We swayed on the rooftop, the memories all flooded back
A clueless childhood when you were all I had
We laughed and shoved, ran and sprinted tripping through the halls
You held my hand when everyone was scared of my claws
We’ve earned this
We’ve earned this
Not long ago I fought you hand to hand
Fighting fights I didn’t understand
I was so complacent and you were oh so patient
I had demons and I couldn’t bear to face them
But now we’re home, our only job to rest our tired hearts
No more fighting, no sacrificing everything to war
Left in peace, finally our humble reward
You’re with me, the very thing that I was fighting for
We’ve earned this
We’ve earned this
We dance in the kitchen, reminiscing about our past
And when I listen I revel in your tender laugh
I’m forgiven, sometimes it’s hard to accept that fact
But you are willing, and I can live with that
We’ve earned this
We’ve earned this
We’ve earned this
We’ve earned this
